From the South / East – The M6 becomes the A74M for a few miles just past Carlisle. You need the A75 next. At the ‘Welcome To Scotland’ sign turn left onto the A75, signed for Dumfries & Stranraer. Keep following this road for about 40 miles (the speed limit is 60MPH), following signs for Stranraer. Just past Castle Douglas you will see the sign for Kirkcudbright. Then take the left turn (well signed for Kirkcudbright) to join the A711. This road follows valley of the River Dee for a few miles, then over the Telford Bridge and into town. If you miss the A711 there are 2 smaller turn-offs past it.
Haven Cottage is on Millburn Street. As you come into town just past the school on your left you’ll see a church with a large spire. You are within a couple of hundred yards. Take the left here (Gladstone Place). You could park on Gladstone Place or further up as the road turns into Millburn St (don't park on the corner as it's very tight). There is no off-road parking but the area is safe. Haven Cottage is a couple of doors to the left as you reach Millburn Street from Gladstone Place.
You can also access Millburn Street from St Cuthbert Street if you go flying past Gladstone Place by mistake; take a left at the crossroads by the Royal Hotel, and then left again into Millburn (tight turn).
FROM THE NORTH (Glasgow etc.)
From Prestwick or Kilmarnock way, take the A713 from Ayr, signed for Castle Douglas. Follow this all the way to the A75 and then turn right a mile or so, bringing you to the Kirkcudbright turn off (A711). Follow town directions as above.
OR from the east side of Glasgow it’s probably quicker to take the A74 down to either Moffat or Lockerbie, then follow signs for Dumfries and join the A75 from there.
You could also use the A76 to Dumfries but it’s not the quickest of roads.
FROM THE WEST (Stranraer / Irish ferry) Follow A75 (signed Dumfries & Carlisle) and turn off at the first sign for Kirkcudbright, which is just past Gatehouse of Fleet. If you miss it there are 2 more. You will come across the Kirkcudbright bridge, seeing the harbour on your right. At the main road (with the KeyStore on your right) go straight over, into Gladstone Place. We’re up the top of this street.

If you are coming along the coastal road through
Dundrennan, you need to keep on the main road into town,
past the main crossroads, and turn right into Gladstone
Place
